Cootamundra Police seize vacuumed-sealed drugs
About 4.40pm yesterday, Cootamundra Police found 567g of cannabis vacuumed-sealed inside a plastic bag of a 62-year-old man’s vehicle.
The cannabis has a wholesale value of approximately $5,000 and if sold in street level deals, it’s approximately $11,500.
Cootamundra officers attached to the Riverina Highway Patrol, were conducting mobile patrol on Burley Griffin Way between Stockinbingal and Wallendbeen, when it stopped a blue Mitsubishi Magna travelling west for random testing.
The man was accompanied by a 30-year-old male passenger and police had a cause to search the vehicle after identification on the pair.
During the search, the drugs were located on the floor of the vehicle’s boot.
The driver was then arrested and conveyed to Cootamundra Police Station where he was later charged with possession of prohibited drug as well supply of prohibited drug.
The man was shortly released from police custody on conditional bail and will soon appear at the Cootamundra Local Court on December 7.
