Oz Day in Coota

The Cootamundra Australia Day celebrations were well attended amongst the lovely gum trees and Captain’s Walk in Jubilee Park. MC Paul Braybrooks looked after proceedings and was assisted by Deputy Mayor Dennis Palmer throughout the event and presentations. Ambassador Peter Herbert told of his time woking in Australian television which commenced working on iconic programs such as the Sullivans, Cop Shop, Flying Doctors and Acropolis Now. He was also heavily involved with The Comedy Company and writing jokes for Con the Fruiterer played by Mark Mitchell. Herbert spoke about failure and success and how it is important to learn from failure and turn that into success. He made it clear that they go hand in hand. Sam McNally said a prayer and the Australian flag was raised just after 8am. Local band Coota Connections played some Australian songs and entertained the crowd.
