Coota Sheep
Lamb numbers were steady and the quality was good. There were plenty of trade lambs to 24kg and heavy lambs were well supplied but extra heavy and store lambs were very limited. There were also a few heavy Merino lambs. The market was firm to $3 dearer.
Trade lambs to 24kg sold from $160 to $198/head to average 800c to 820c/kg cwt. The 24 to 26kg cwt lambs $189 to $196/head with similar weight Merinos reaching $216/head. Heavy lambs $195 to $220/head or 745c/kg cwt on average. Merino hoggets reached $216/head.
Mutton numbers eased and the quality was good. Prices eased on the heavy sheep. Medium weight ewes sold from $130 to $166/head and heavy crossbred ewes $178 to $220/head. Heavy Merinos $160 to $185/head.
Yass Sheep
There was a decrease in lamb numbers but the quality still remains good. Heavy and extra heavy lambs made up the bulk and trade lambs to 24kg were in limited numbers. Store lambs were also limited. All the usual buyers operated but there were fewer restocking and feeder orders present. The market sold to a cheaper trend of $2 to $4/head.
Restocking lambs sold from $82 to $177/head. Trade lambs to 24kg were firm to $2 cheaper and sold from $165 to $196/head averaging 780c/kg. 24 to 26kg cwt lambs ranged from $186 to $205/head averaging 750c/kg and lambs estimated 26 to 30kg cwt $197 to $225/head with extra heavy lambs topping at $255/head. The best priced hoggets were Merinos reaching $229/head and crossbreds $240/head.
Mutton numbers were steady and the quality was mixed. Prices were $5 to $9 cheaper with the exception of the heavy crossbred ewes which remained firm. Medium weight ewes $122 to $164/head. Heavy crossbred ewes $193 to $243 and Merinos reached $207/head.
