Last weekend, The Cootamundra Lions Club organised a carnival complete with fireworks, rides and market stalls for the community to enjoy, just before Christmas.
Secretary of the Lions Club, Ruth McCarthy, said that the evening was a success, and the Club received ‘phenomenal’ feedback.
“We had such a wonderful crowd,” she said.
“We’ve had comments about how the firework display was the best it ever has been in Cootamundra.”
The event had various food stalls rides, markets and even a Lego competition for community members to enjoy.
“The hospital auxiliary and Lions Club catered for the event, and there were also stalls selling things like hot doughnuts,” Ruth explained.
“It was great. We had so much community involvement which was honestly fantastic.”
Ruth told The Times that the carnival saw an evening with perfect weather, after an otherwise rainy week.
“We couldn’t have been happier with results,” she said.
“All of the money that we raised from the event will also be going back into the community into various causes, so it worked out very well.”
Ruth and other members of The Lions Club would like to thank local businesses for donating enough money to fund the fireworks.
“We couldn’t have done it without them,” she said.
