Bulldogs 3-1 all-round

The Cootamundra Bulldogs have retuned to the winner’s list in the George Tooke Shield competition, recording a 38-34 victory over the Boorowa Rovers last Saturday at Les Boyd Oval at Fisher Park.

The close win for the men in blue and white takes them to a 3-1 record after five rounds and sits Cootamundra near the top of the ladder. Saturday’s win over Boorowa was no easy feat for the Bulldogs, scrapping until the final minute to get the desired result.

Captain-Coach Jordyn Ballard was instrumental for his side in the victory, going over the line twice, with Chris Maher, Charlie Tucker, Hayden Cowled and Tom Miller all scoring one try each. Luke Levett was impressive for Cootamundra from the tee, converting five of their seven tries.

The George Tooke Shield will take a week off this weekend as the competition breaks up to allow for representative football, but round six will commence on Saturday 21 May.

A mouthwatering clash between fierce rivals Harden Hawks and the Bulldogs will take place in round six at McLean Oval in Harden, in what will be a well-attended at fair.

In the Ladies League Tag George Tooke Shield season, the Cootamundra Bulldogs weren’t as fortunate as their male counterparts.

The ladies went down 12-22 to the Boorowa Roverettes in round five at Les Boyd Oval, in what was their first loss of the season.

The Bulldogs Ladies also sit with a 3-1 win-loss record for their 2022 campaign, along with the men’s side, but have had a successful start to the season.

The Bullettes and Hawkettess will also battle it out in the Ladies League Tag in round six, at McLean Oval.
