Lauren Connell is swamped by team mates after winning a finals match leading in to the 2023 Grand Final against the Harden Hawkettes.
LAUREN Connell will become just the fourth player in the history of the Cootamundra Rugby League Club to play 100 games of League Tag for the Bullettes this Saturday, when Coota hosts the Binalong Brahmans in one of their toughest tests this season.
Connell will reach the milestone when she leads her team into battle in a crucial match against the Jersey Girls at 1.15pm.
Joining Renae Buttriss and Kristen and Maddison Byrne in the magical 100 Club, the 24-year old crafty number nine will be hoping for dual reasons to celebrate as the Bullettes look to cement their place near the top of the ladder.
Having made her debut in 2017, Connell has played most of her career as dummy half and possesses an excellent passing game as well as the uncanny ability of knowing when to skirt away from the play the ball to create opportunities for herself and teammates.
A current co-coach with Glanville and reigning George Tooke Shield Coach of The Year, Connell was part of last year’s Coota team that went desperately close to upsetting competition powerhouse Harden in last year’s grand final. And while there’s plenty of football to be played before this year’s finals series, Connell will no doubt be looking for the change to avenge that loss this year.
The Bullettes sit in second place on the ladder, just two points behind Harden and one point in front of the Jersey Girls.
First Grade will run out at 2.30pm in what will be a great day of celebration for the club with a temperature of 16 degrees predicted.
