6 Wickets For Roy

Round 2 of the Southwest slopes cricket league belonged to young Bull’s leg spinner Roy Dunk. Being regarded as the best young talent to come out of Cootamundra for some time, Roy bowled superbly in the second innings to finish with the fine figures of 6-17 off 8 overs.

To make the day more special for Roy and the Dunk family, the first of Roy’s 6 wickets were caught in the field by his dad, James Dunk.

At one point both Roy and James were bowling in tandem with each other.

All of Roy’s wickets were caught as he has a knack of pitching it up on the stumps every ball with late dip and spin luring batsman to play a big shot.

Last year in Roy’s only A grade game, he took 3-4 off 3 overs.

On Saturday the Bulls played Murringo at Albert Park and were asked to bowl first.

Things got off to a great start as Riley Meale cleaned bowled Craig Hambrook on the first ball of the game, a perfect inswinger. Riley took the second wicket soon after with another bowled to have Murringo at 2-8 after 5 overs.

Murringo fought back in the middle overs with Captain Peter Jollife making a well-crafted 50 to keep his side in the game. Benjamin Randell bowled well and was the other wicket taker finishing with 2-26 from 8 over. Murringo finishing on 6-139 after 40 overs.

The Bulls batting innings struggled to get going against a good total. Gus Smart was a standout, scoring a patient 28 in the middle order to give his team a chance. Ben Piffero was the next best with the bat scoring 11 as the Bulls were bowled out in the 30th over for 72.

Captain Scott Meale will lead the young Bulls squad over to Harden this Saturday to play at Tim Doolan Oval and will be looking to bounce back and make the use of the fast outfield over in Harden.

Boorowa Forfeit to Cootamundra Bulls A grade on Saturday.

Unfortunately, Boorowa Crocs were made to forfeit their game against Coota Bulls at Albert Park.

The Bulls will be looking to hit the ground running this Saturday after 2 weeks off due to a wash out and then forfeit, when they host Temora Bowling Club Tigers at Albert Park this Saturday.
