Cootamundra Town Tennis Club held their first ever Youth Tennis Night on November 1 which had a great turnout and plenty of fun by all.
Winners were:
– 1st place Boys Jake Winsor
– 1st place Girls Caitlin Drum
– Runner Up Boys Gus Smart
– Runner Up Girls Ava Sannazarro
President of the club Zac Mahon, said, “It was really good. We had 20 kids and they all said that they really enjoyed it and it was also really nice weather as well.
The kids were at differing levels but they improved as the night went on and picked up skills.
“There was a prize for boy and girl that won the most games and then there were prizes for best forehand, best backhand, best serve, and best sportsmanship.
There were twenty kids, ten prizes and then all the other kids got a participation prize.
The prizes were vouchers from different businesses around Cootamundra.
“We have a new committee that has started working at the Tennis Club and we are just trying to revitalise it as the tennis numbers were dwindling over the last few years and we have had a heap of new memberships and a bunch of new people playing tennis. It’s really rewarding that we have been able to achieve that growth. We are working in the background for a few different events for 2025 and details will be posted to the Coota Tennis Facebook page as they are released.
