Stock go back to back in Seven A Side

Back row LtoR: Adam Swanson, Harvey Holt, Nick Holt and Taiyo Reece. Front row Lachlan Webb, Jack Caldwell [Capt] and Paddy Crawford.

Stock have won the annual Seven A side carnival which was played at Albert and Fisher Park last Saturday.

After breaking through for their initial win in 2024, the Stock boys were more convincing than last season winning all their pool matches at Albert Park.

In the final they were up against Brookvale Union who won all their three matches at Fisher Park.

The Brookie boys batting first could only muster 51 with Brendan Gale top scoring with 28.

Set the modest total of 52 to win, the Stock boys blasted to victory in the fifth over to finish with 1/59. Captain Jack Caldwell top scored with 30 not out while Nick Holt made 14.

Eight teams took part in the carnival. This is the most number of teams since 2019 when 11 teams took part.

The Seven A Side carnival was revamped in 2011 and during this time 140 teams have taken part which has seen nearly 1000 cricketers enjoying the fun day. Teams pay $100 to play and there is no prize money.

Not only does the carnival provide an easy going atmosphere for cricketers plus those who wish to play our summer game once a year, the carnivals have provided a windfall for the Cootamundra District Cricket Association (CDCA).

The 15 carnivals have now boosted the CDCA coffers by 100K.
