The figures are in, and the reviews are glowing for Cootamundra’s Bradman’s Birthplace and Museum. Over 7000 visitors have called in to the iconic attraction in a two-year period. With over 300 people visiting in January 2025.
The Google reviews have been congratulatory and complimentary, paying particular attention to the band of faithful volunteers who man the site, seven days a week from 9am to 5pm. The twelve volunteers give large amounts of their time and are passionate about their town.

One review said, “What an absolute credit to the volunteers that made this place happen and keep it running. Whether you know cricket or not, you know “The Don” Sir Donald Bradman. To see his birthplace, including a portrait with his parents and the midwife that delivered him. The actual room he was born in – Incredible that it is all still here for us to enjoy. The biggest shout out to the wonderful staff/volunteers who keep it open every day and their incredible passion. It’s definitely a MUST visit. I’m going back as I was a little rushed for time and need to see everything a little more in depth.”
Many more were just as complimentary and point to the volunteers as enhancing their experience.

Despite being established for decades, visitor numbers continue to be strong at the attraction. Compounding Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council’s (CGRC) commitment to tourism and reinforcing the interest in historical tourist destinations. CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister, said the success solely belongs to the volunteers.
“As a council we can only do so much, it’s the people who generously give up their time and show such great passion that makes these attractions successful. I congratulate and sincerely thank all volunteers who assist with welcoming visitors to our region.

The Bradman Birthplace and Museum is one of many such attractions that are manned and managed by volunteers and to see such appreciative comments for this attraction and the solid visitor numbers is a testament to their passion and commitment,” Cr McAlister said.
