The Cootamundra Sports Foundation (CSF) is holding their annual sports awards for 2024 with a presentation at the Cootamundra Rugby Club on Monday, April 28 at 5.30 pm. This is a free event and is open to the community.
With many excellent performances seen from both individuals and teams during 2024, it will be interesting to see who will be rewarded for their efforts on the sporting field. There will be many different sports on show at the awards, reflecting Cootamundra’s diverse sporting culture for both juniors and seniors at school and community level.
Representatives from Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council and the Foundation’s major sponsors – Riverina Ford, ARTC and SWSBank will be on hand to assist with presenting the awards. Medallions will be presented to 14 athletes who were selected by the CSF’s committee after a great deal of discussion.
From that group of finalists the major award, the Frank Smith Memorial Trophy for Sportsperson of 2024 will be announced.
Two awards for juniors will also be presented – the Junior Sportsperson of 2024 and the Rising Star trophy, recognising the wealth of junior sporting talent in Cootamundra.
There will also be two awards presented to recognise the work of sports administrators in the town. The Max Rudd Memorial Service to Sport Award and the Sports Administrators Award will be presented to people who have made a significant contribution to sporting clubs in Cootamundra.
The annual awards have been presented by the Sports Foundation for over 40 years and reflects on the importance of sport to the Cootamundra community.
