After last years Christmas extravaganza from the Coota Lions club was forced to be postponed, the Lions rolled their sleeves up and put it all in an April 4 Easter Extravaganza at Fisher Park from 5:00pm which patient community members were glad to finally see.
It was all smiles at the event which saw rides, face painting, market stalls, the dachshund dash and much more – even the Easter Bunny joined the cheer.
Peter Lotts of the Coota Lions said, “we had the event with a shorter format and possibly slightly cooler evening versus a hot December, but given that we’d actually had all the organisation done and Cootamundra businesses had already sponsored the fireworks display and we thank very much for that, we were primed to go. It was all systems go on what was a successful night.”
Peter Lott said people enjoyed the Easter time this year around since it was a good celebration between sporting codes.
“Christmas is the traditional time where we’ve always done it and it’s always been really successful, it was interesting that some of the kids, including my kids have said, you’ve got to do it Christmas time because that’s what you do. We’ll watch this space and see what plays out there. But yes, we’re pretty happy with it.
“We were pretty with happy how it all came together and went off and there were a heap of families there and just a real mix of community people there so it was really successful.
“The fireworks were excellent. I think as a venue it doesn’t get any better than Fisher Park as a fireworks observation platform because you’re right there and you’re right around it.
“I was really happy with the professional display that was put on there.
Peter Lott said that the Cootamundra Lions are in a good position outside of the extravaganza activities.
“We’re doing things that we want to do and got a good team that will factor in and get the job done. We’re always looking for some additional helpers because many hands make light work.
“We are functioning and steaming ahead and have got plenty on and we’re making, well certainly I’d like to think we’re making a contribution to our community and supporting other organisations both with our health and financially.”
