One of Cootamundra’s biggest events of the year, Wattle Time Festival of Lights, will take place on Saturday, September 6 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm on Parker Street. The event combines two events into one, marking the beginning of spring in a spectacular manner. Parker Street will be draped in beautiful lights to complement the live music, markets, and food. The main street of Cootamundra transforms for the night.
The Wattle Time Festival of Lights will be a highlight of the Wattle time season, which is a remarkable time in town since it’s when golden wattles and golden canola spring up in the region, symbolising renewal and connection. This is an event for everyone, kids and parents will both have a great night out, whether from Coota or afar.
Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council said about the Wattle Time Festival, that it “is a cherished event in the Cootamundra community. It marks the start of warmer weather and the blooming of the iconic Cootamundra Wattle. Street parades, market stalls, live entertainment, and children’s amusements have all made Wattle Time a generational event.
“The theme, around the Cootamundra Wattle, is heavily focused on local.”The Wattle Time festival represents the traditional period when the famous Cootamundra wattle blooms in the town and around the district and will be a day that will create memories for young and old.”
Last year, 55 market stalls were registered for the event, with plenty of goods on sale, with something for everyone supporting local.The children also had their fill of entertainment last year with face painting, henna tattoos, a mega slide, and air racer/ball balance inflatable game. Dora and Diego learning adventure also appeared along with DIY kids’ crafts.
