Bryce, Brody and Phil Jenkins.
Phil’s Tree Service, owned and operated by Phil Jenkins, is a family-run business that has been steadily growing for years, offering everything from tree removals and trimming to stump grinding and shaping, all with a personal touch.
Phil’s journey into the profession started in his early twenties, driven by a simple desire to find work that kept him outdoors and physically active. “I was just looking for a job and came across tree work,” he says. “I really liked it because it’s outside work and it keeps you fit.” That first taste of the trade turned into a passion, and after gaining nine years of experience, Phil decided to branch out on his own.

Since then, Phil’s Tree Service has built a strong reputation for safe, reliable, and efficient work. When it comes to taking down trees, safety and precision are always the top priorities. “We bring them down slowly, usually in pieces,” Phil explains. “Especially if they’re in a tight spot or near buildings, it’s all about being careful.” With the help of a cherry picker and professional equipment, no job is too tricky.
Phil doesn’t work alone. His two sons, Bryce and Brody, are part of the team, making it a true family operation. “It’s just us,” he says. “Keeping it small helps us stay focused and flexible.” The team travels up to an hour from Cootamundra, servicing a wide area with the same high standard of care, whether it’s a small backyard job or clearing trees from a rural property.

Jobs usually take less than a day, depending on the size of the tree and how easy it is to access.
Phil stresses that every job is different, and quotes are given only after a proper look at the site. “It just depends how big the tree is, where it is, and what’s around it.”
While there haven’t been any large major projects recently, the steady flow of work keeps Phil and his two sons busy year-round. The industry, he says, hasn’t changed much over the years, and that’s something he appreciates.
“There’s a nice consistency to it,” he reflects. “We know the work, and we enjoy doing it.”
For those in and around Cootamundra looking for trustworthy, down-to-earth service, Phil’s Tree Service remains a reliable choice with strong family values, years of hands-on experience, and a genuine love for the job.
