This year’s 133rd Annual Cootamundra Show is on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 October at the Showgrounds.

The Cootamundra Show Society work tirelessly year-round to deliver the Cootamundra Show every October. This dedication is why the family friendly event has become such a big community event with many attractions: pavilion classes, livestock competitions, the sideshow alley, trade stalls and family entertainment.

Jack Bush of the Show Society spoke to the Cootamundra Times about where they are at as the date looms closer and closer. “We’ve had our working bee on the weekend, and we are looking pretty good.

“We’ve got yard dog trials, poultry judging, beef cattle judging, all the pavilion entries, the animal nursery, the sideshows, the sheep judging, British breeds and Merino sheep, and they’ve got racing ducks this year, which we haven’t had for a while.

“We’ve got the wood chop, some wildlife displays, the mower racing, it will be the big one, it’ll be in the main arena.

“There’s a grand parade on as well, which we haven’t done before, so it’ll be a parade of all of the emergency services, a few other old cars and old tractors will be going around the ring for the grand parade.

“Also on is the dog high jump, which was really popular last year, so hopefully it’s really popular again. “We’ve got a tug of war happening too, between the emergency services teams and the fireworks.

“A big thank you to AMG and Taylor’s Window Supplies. Taylor’s Windows Supplies has sponsored us for two years now, which has been really good. Definitely a big thank you to AMG for being a major sponsor and to all the other sponsors as well, because without them, the show won’t happen.

“Thanks also to all the committee as well, all the different sections of the committee have been really helpful again this year.

“We encourage people to come down if you have been before or if you haven’t been before, the entertainment changes every year and there’s a few things that change each time, so even if you’ve been to a show before, it’s always a good idea to come to another one and it’s looking like pretty good weather, so hopefully it’ll be a really good day.”

Be sure to grab a ticket this weekend, and don’t miss the fireworks at 8:15pm.
