Many gathered at the Cootamundra War Memorial Cenotaph on Tuesday, November 11, to observe Remembrance Day, honouring the service and sacrifice of Australian veterans.
The ceremony, organised by the Cootamundra RSL sub-Branch, included Veterans, schoolchildren, local dignitaries, and community members.
At 11 a.m. the nation paused for a minute’s silence — marking the exact moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front in 1918. The Ode of Remembrance was recited, wreaths were laid, and “The Last Post” and “Rouse” echoed through the town centre.
Students from local schools placed poppies at the memorial, while emergency services and community groups paid tribute.
