Cootamundra Day VIEW celebrated the club’s 53rd birthday this month with a “Black & White with a touch of red!” theme and the tables looked amazing as did the ladies.
There was a great turnout with eight ladies coming from Temora, two from Harden, Zone Councillor Nita McIntyre and Mary Donnelly coming along as a guest. A raffle of pamper packs was held with the winners being Greetje Sargent and Pam Bradley and a third prize of a lovely pot-plant donated by Z/C Nita was won by Norma Howard. Beryl Cockerill and June Rees manned the Trading Table with some delicious cooking and craft wear on offer. Kathy Hodge won the Guessing Competition with her guess of 70, closest to 73, and Jenny and Diane handed out the lucky Door prizes to the winners.
The day started off with President Jenny presenting our two new members Diane Hardy and Cheryl Patch with their name badges and welcome packs, then cut the Birthday cake with Zone Councillor Nita. Everyone sang “Happy Birthday!”
A quick meeting and a couple of jokes and then Z/C Nita presented Marj Smith and Jenny McAinsh with Certificates for 100% attendance in 2025 (Jenny hasn’t missed a luncheon meeting for 15 years) and then Z/C Nita addressed the meeting before we were served a delicious lunch at the Albion Hotel.
Following lunch everyone was entertained by Country singer, Vicki Walsh with some nostalgic songs from the past and she had everyone singing and tapping along with her. Kathy Hodge gave Vicki a vote of thanks on our behalf and presented Vicki with a certificate and small gift.
The birthday basket was taken around for members Beryl Cockerill, Gloria Schultz and Helen Eccleston and guest Jone Pavelic celebrating their birthday throughout the month of March.
The meeting was finished off so Vicki could carry on singing for us.
Cootamundra Day VIEW Club raises funds to sponsor our three Learning for Life students, Charlotte, Ava and Samara on The Smith Family’s educational programmes. We also contribute to the local School’s end of year book awards.
The theme for our next luncheon is “Easter!” so wear your Easter hats on the 2nd April 2026 at The Albion Hotel 11.30am for 12n at a cost of $28.00.
