Fresh back from an unbeaten and Runner Up finish in the Gundagai Tournament, Scott Wilkinson teamed with Grady Sheather on Wednesday 6th for an all the way win. Playing ‘Pickles’ Bradley and Andrew Cudmore, scores did level at 16-16 after fifteen ends, until Grady found a rope in his office for Wilko and himself to skip ahead again winning 24-21.
Graeme Dennis and Paul Cockram scored two 3’s early in their game which proved to be the difference at full time against Ron Rosengreen and Don ‘Duck’ O’Neill. GD and Cocko were too well oiled against a rusty Ron and a corroded duck.
Two other games with daylight coming 2nd: Mark ‘Pato’ Paterson and Diana Buchanan defeating Brian Driscoll and Tony Palombi, including a stretch of eleven consecutive ends.

FRIDAY 8th MAY SOCIAL BOWLS
A dozen of our most dedicated bowlers and two visitors on a wintry day playing 2 x 3B Pairs and a game of 3B Triples.
Rod ‘Pickles’ Bradley and Paul ‘Cocko’ Cockram were in an evenly fought bout at 11-10 when the bell rung after round 11. Up against Russ ‘Southpaw’ King and Grady “the seagull’ Sheather, the points tally climbed in their favour and after the knockouts the heavyweights won by 24 blows to 13.
With a count of five each to begin, Graeme Dennis and Kerry Thomas (Lakes Entrance) led 18-6 after eleven ends against Scott Wilkinson and Tony Palombi. Winning only seven ends to seventeen, Wilko and Antonio were very hospitable for our Mexican guest, laying down 14-33.
Mark Paterson, Brian Driscoll and Jan Slavin weren’t quite as welcoming for John Cousins (Canowindra). Visiting from the Balloon town, John was in the basket with Phil Ager and Wayne Conquest, but their hot air had vanished early allowing Pato, Hoss and Jan to land safely at 26-13.

New and Cockram first into Major-Minor Pairs Final
President Bob New and dedicated volunteer Paul Cockram turned the pressure up early in their clash with Billy Manwaring and Anthony Dawson. They opened the valve, drawing with consistency to lead 10-2 after eight ends and 14-7 after thirteen ends. Billy and Dawso lifted to win six out of seven ends to draw level at 16-16 on the penultimate end. The gas was running low when Bob and Cocko were two-down, however Bob held his nerve to draw a winning bowl.
They will play the winner of this Thursday’s Semi Final between Russell King and Graeme Dennis versus Scott Wilkinson and Tony Palombi who both won their respective games on the adjacent rinks.
Russell and Graeme, in a similar scenario, led 14-7 at half time against Major Pairs Champ Dave Large and Neil ‘maroon man’ Blackett. Russ and GD touched down with a count of four and led 18-9 with ends running out. Dave and Blackie came charging home, falling short 19-21 when the ref blew the full time whistle.
With the score at 11-10 after the first half of their game, Scott Wilkinson and Tony Palombi were involved in a measure for measure tussle with Terry Cosgrove and Paul Harding. A purple patch of four counts of 3 to Wilko and Tony announced their intent to keep the lead, running away from Tezza the eel and Alf to a 30-14 score line.
Two games of Social Bowls. Greg ‘Grumpy’ Fisher, Phil ‘Pigeon’ Ager and Grady ‘Seagull’ Sheather defeated Mark ‘Pato’ Paterson, Kerry Thomas (Lakes Entrance) and Ben ‘Bing’ Visser by 19 shots to 17.
Geoff Hillier, Kye Fisher and Glen Hodge, back home for Mothers Day from Wagga, defeated Lynn Fisher, Roger Goode and Di Olds by 20 shots to 14.
TUESDAY Morning Mens Bowls ushered in a Birthday for the popular and jovial Brian Driscoll.
Brian, sometimes called Hoss or the Drisco Kid, was gifted with a big Birthday Bowls triumph. Drawn with Terry ‘Radar’ McDonald, they partied all the way against Mark ‘Pato’ Paterson and Charlie Sheahan, blowing the candles out at 20 shots to 8.
Phil ‘Wally’ Wallace and Kel the Archer must have missed the leading Duck last week with that arrow as he was definitely wounded this week. They ended up plucking Don O’Neill and Russ ‘the drake’ King, winning 17 feathers to 14.
Phil Ager and Tony Palombi were trailing Col Stokell and Neil Luff 7-11 until they grabbed a handful of shots to take the lead. With the scores all square after fourteen ends at 16 apiece, Pigeon Phil and Tony were like birds of a feather, flying away with fifteen unanswered shots to nest at 31-16.
John Cooper and Grady Sheather led 7-0 early against regular roll-up partners Graeme Dennis and Ben Visser. They only lost the lead briefly at 10-11, but no more mercy with John as Captain of his naval frigate and Grady ‘seagull’ on board, sailed away to document 23-15 in the log book.
