Stockingbingal is set to host another massive MND Fundraiser on June 18, as the Stop and Mingle Fundraiser is set in motion.
Held at Elwood’s Hall at 10.00am, the Stop and Mingle fundraiser is a monthly event that invites a guest speaker to talk in between servings of endless tea and coffee.
Organiser of the event, Wendy Millynn, said the overall monthly events are going brilliantly.
“It’s plodding along well. We’ve had the usual array of interesting guest speakers. Recently, we had the Men’s Shed, which was good,” she said.
“We had Russell Bradford from RB Carriage and Coach Hire. He did a discussion about how they travel out with the horses, and they by wagon trails, which was really interesting. The recent talk was policing. We actually had some of the local police come out, which was great.
“We’ve got the school captains of Stockinbingal Public School, who are going to do a presentation for us which is always good on May 21. Then we have our MND Fundraiser soon after.”
If anyone has any prizes available that they would like to donate, Wendy said they are on the lookout to assist with their raffles and games.
“It’ll be a bigger session. We’ve got a guest speaker coming from Temora, the Old Crackers. It’s three ladies, they’ve been going around for a number of years and they go to towns to do these talks,” she said.
“They’re bringing a speaker, he actually has Parkinson’s disease and he’s had deep brain electrodes put in to help with motor movement. Since this overlaps with the motor neuron disease, he’s going to come out and do a presentation which will be really interesting.
“We get at least 20 to 30 each month, but it depends on the speaker. It’s $7 a head. Last time we had quite a few because the police attracted them. A lot of Cootamundra people may come out and
support us, which we absolutely love. We also get some Temora people.
