Despite terrible weather Sam Longmore completed an 8 day journey.
After eight gruelling days, 32-year-old Yass local, Samantha (Sam)
Longmore, has successfully raised more than $200,000 for local rural mental health charities,
Riverina Bluebell and Rural Aid, as part of her Big Wheel: Push for Purpose ride.
Sam, who is paralysed down her left side following two accidents 13 years ago has now successfully ridden from Corowa to Yass using only her right hand and leg to push herself across 441 kilometres.
Although this superstar started her journey by herself, she was never truly alone, with each town she entered lined with supporters.

When she passed through Cootamundra, on 1 July, she was taken to the ROAR Gym, where she was given an ice bath, sauna and a hot shower after being escorted to the finish line by local rugby league and soccer players. Although the kind act was small in comparison to her big trek, Sam says it was community moments like these that kept her going.
The Yass Valley Times spoke to Sam about her journey. Read on in this week’s paper or visit the Yass Valley Times website.
