Tri-Colours Thump Grenfell In Near-70 Point Win

The Coota Tri-Colours were a humongous force on Saturday when they took on Grenfell at home, winning 69-nil. Coota just continued to pummel Grenfell throughout the game.

Hamish Pennington of the Tri-Colours said it was a very convincing win.

“We definitely weren’t expecting that. I didn’t think we were going to get that score, but it shows that our training has been really good, and it’s finally paid off in the back part of the year.

“We’ve been working really hard on our structure at training, seeing what works, and that actually fell into place on the weekend due to getting numbers to training. We haven’t been able to get the numbers to training as we have in the last few weeks. It comes down to our training, and getting people to training has been really good to allow us to actually put it out in play in the game.

“It was a home game, and the crowd was good. We had a lot of people hang around after the game, which we are building the club culture to get better and better and each week we’re seeing more and more people turn up and hang around for presentations.

“It keeps improving each and every week, getting more people, more families, a lot more people enjoying good quality rugby. It all comes back to our culture.

“We’ve got the bye this weekend. We are really looking forward to that. Then we go to Young next weekend, which will be a very tough game. They’re fighting to keep their season alive. They’ll be out to try and beat us, and it’ll be very tough over there.

“Young are very solid at home. They’ve got a good bunch of boys. I’m sure they’ll all be on deck, ready to fire and play some footy.

“I’m pretty happy. It was a good, solid, convincing win and nice to get the for and against up, leading into the back end of the season.”

They play the Yabbies at Young on July 11.
