Player of the month Wayne ‘Reverend’ Ford and Jan Roberts defeated Grady Sheather and Paul ‘Cocko’ Cockram 27 shots to 16. No ‘Rocky’ roads for the ‘Rev’, missing out on winning only once this month since taking up the Bowls Arm.
In a triples game, Russell King, Mark ‘Pato’ Paterson and Di Olds defeated John Priestley, Ray Deale (Perth) and Diana Buchanan by 20 shots to 11.
FRIDAY 28th August
Welcome to five visitors from three different clubs.
A gripping game on rink 3. With six shots on two ends, Bob Gay and Diana Buchanan led for the first time at 12-11 against Geoff Hillier and Phil Hawes (Launceston). They lost that momentum and trailed 12-16, 15-20 and 20-23 with three ends to play. All square at 23-23 with one end to play, ‘twas a pair of mainlanders taking the honours 24-23.
On rink 4, Russell King and Grady Sheather won eighteen ends to six in a scintillating display of Bowls versus John Priestley and Tony Palombi. Grady was baking the muffins by dictating the length and planting his lead bowls along side them while Russ added the blue berries to cook their opponents by 32-8.
Billy Manwaring, Paul Cockram and Phil Ager trailed 9-15 after twelve ends versus Gary Marley (Belmont), John Cooper and Pauline Cox (Belmont). With a count of five, the ‘B Man’, ‘Cocko’ and the ‘Pigeon’ got the lift they needed to scale to 26-18 heights.
Mark Paterson, Sally Hodgson (Wiseman Park) and Jodie Buttriss led all the way in their 18-12 win against Peter Hodgson (Wiseman Park), Tracie Cudmore and Di Olds. Jodie put the game beyond doubt with three great draw bowls on the second last end.

Thanks to Grady for doing the cards.
On paper the teams looked well balanced.
Mark Paterson and Graeme Worboys were in scintillating form to make one game lopsided.
Pato and Worbs raced out to a 10-0 start versus Adam New and Roger Goode. Five ends later the scoreboard read 15-2 and no sign of the brakes being activated. A replay of their masterful bowls would be fascinating to watch with the final score blowing out to 33-8, limiting their opponents to five ends.
Rod Bradley, Eric Thorburn and Colleen Goode were wondering what hit them with Geoff Hillier, Phil Ager and Di Olds also racing out to big leads. Down 1-11 and 4-17, the green started to quicken. This suited Pickles, E.T. and Diamond Di by scoring a match changing count of 8 and all of a sudden were levelled up at 20-20 with one end to play.
Their surge continued, claiming the win 23-20 with a super fight back.
John Cooper and Ben Visser led 11-2 early and managed their game to keep a buffer throughout. Jan Roberts and Grady Sheather got to within four shots after the eleventh end but still trailed 20-27 with three ends to play. With John consistent as ever and Ben’s practice paying off, they drew away to a 33-21 win.
