Members from Adina Care were last week set up on Parker Street selling tickets for their Mother’s Day raffle to raise money that goes directly back into the aged care facility. President of Adina Care Carolyn Buchanan and Treasurer Mary Last were both busy selling tickets to raise much needed funds for Adina Care.
The raffle winners were drawn on Monday by Rebecca from Squire Interiors at the Adina Care meeting earlier this week, with all winners having already been notified. Tim O’Laughlin was the first prize winner, taking home a $50 Woolworths wish gift card, a convection cooker, towel set, ramekins, tea towel, photo frame and perfume.
Clare Keys received second prize, which included Katy Perry perfume and a CW Jewellers $50 gift card. G. Barnes claimed the third prize, receiving a cup, saucer and plate set, and a Wedgewood photo frame. “The donations in money raised over the last six weeks, with the community help, which we are grateful for all the support, was over $5000 in total,” Carolyn said. “That sum includes our Mother’s Day raffle and our Easter Raffle. The Easter raffle itself raised $1025.64.
“The Coota Ex-Services Club men’s and women’s bowlers helped raise the sum of over $5000 with their car boot sale at our nursing home prior to Easter, as well as the street stall and other donations.
“We would like to thank all of the businesses who have helped us out, including the Coota Ex-Services Club, as well as the supporters and community members for their wonderful donations. It’s just amazing how they support Can Assist and everyone in Coota, we’ve got a wonderful community.”
Adina Care currently only has six active members, with Carolyn and Mary asking on residents in the community to think about joining.
Adina Care in Cootamundra is community owned, and not by an out-of-town governing body. “We have to raise funds ourselves, so we rely strongly on the community for help,” Carolyn continued.”
