Construction of the new Cootamundra Ambulance Station, being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $122 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program, is ahead of schedule and expected to be completed by the end of the year. The main building is now complete and work is underway to complete the internal fit out of the building. Once the new station is completed, it will undergo an operational commissioning and fit-out phase prior to the commencement of operations from the new facility.
The new station, co-located adjacent to the Cootamundra Hospital on Boundary Road will enable local NSW Ambulance paramedics to better meet the current and future demand for emergency medical care in Cootamundra and surrounds. Designed with input from local paramedics, the purpose-built Cootamundra Ambulance Station will deliver a much better working environment for paramedics tailored to the needs of the local community.
Once completed, the Cootamundra ambulance station will include: Internal parking for up to four emergency ambulance vehicles, Administration and office areas, Staff amenities, Logistics and storage areas, Relief accommodation, Staff parking, Delivery and loading bay, External wash bay.
To date, 24 upgraded, rebuilt or new regional and rural ambulance stations have been announced under the $122 million RAIR program, including Wagga Wagga, Coolamon, Ardlethan, Harden, Molong, Griffith, Kiama, Berry, Bay & Basin, Toukley, Wauchope, Hamlyn Terrace, Bathurst, Pottsville, Yass, Rutherford, Bungendore, Cowra, Grenfell, Goulburn, Birmingham Gardens, Sawtell, Iluka and the new Cootamundra Ambulance Station. This significant government investment represents the biggest regional and rural transformation of NSW Ambulance infrastructure in the organisation’s history.
