Classed as the best batsman of all time, cricketer Sir Donald Bradman would’ve celebrated his 113th birthday last Friday.
Famously hailing from Cootamundra, ‘The Don’ was born was born on August 27, 1908, in the front room of 89 Adams Street.
The small private hospital where Bradman was born now stands as his birthplace museum, which has been tastefully restored by Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council.
Bradman’s Birthplace Museum displays memorabilia from his playing days at New South Wales, South Australia, and Australia.
Don lived at Yeo Yeo, between Cootamundra and Stockinbingal during the early years of his life, before moving to Bowral with his family when he was two.
Bradman is known as an Australian sporting icon, gracing the cricket field from 1928 to 1948.
Sir Donald is the only ever Australian cricketer to be knighted for his services to the sport.
Bradman famously finished his career with a batting average of 99.94, getting out for a duck in his final ever innings.
