Community info session at Mackay Park in Wallendbeen last Thursday. Transport for NSW held a community information session for residents and stakeholders to discuss the proposed design of the permanent Wallendbeen Bridge at Mackay Park last Thursday, May 5.
About 25 community members, including members of the Wallendbeen Progress Association and Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council met to discuss the plans for the new Wallendbeen Bridge road over rail bridge on the Burley Griffin Way.
The information session held at the Mackay Park rest area between 3pm and 5pm was a chance for locals to provide feedback to Transport for NSW team, which included project engineers, who are conducting the work on the new permanent bridge.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said, “The community took the opportunity to share their thoughts on the proposed design and were advised the temporary bridge would remain in place until the permanent structure was built and opened to traffic. It would then be removed.
“Transport for NSW understands there may be differing views in the community and appreciates this feedback from the community.
“Transport is committed to working in collaboration with Council on this project and will continue to keep the local community updated as the project progresses.
“All submissions and feedback will be carefully considered by the project team.
The original road bridge over the railway was removed in March 2021, following heavy rains and significant wet weather which caused significant damage to the bridge.
