Probus provides an exciting opportunity to meet retirees in your local community who have similar cir- cumstances and in- terests to you. Our June meeting has been put back a week to Monday 19th June due to the Kings Birthday Public Holiday. Members enjoyed the movie “Allelujah” at the Arts Centre as our social outing for May followed by a delicious lunch at Planted.
Quest speaker at the May meeting was Leah Sutherland who is the Manager of Business Cootamundra. Leah assisted by Zac Kostrubic provide a large range of services to the community. Some of the major events that they are involved with is Party on Parker at Christmas time. The Beach Volleyball is another a big week- end in Cootamundra. They play a major role in the Festival of Lights. This was a new imitative last year and was so successful it was put on the calendar again this year and was well supported by the local community. At the moment the big event on the calendar is The Cootamundra Business Awards. Leah explained that anyone can nominate an employee whom they think excel at their job.
Last year they had 153 nominees for the awards. Nominations are coming in at the moment for all categories. Business Cootamundra have a large data base of over 650 businesses and individuals that receives their newsletter sent out to every Tuesday. They also have the Cootamundra Community Calendar on their website where you are able to check upcoming events.
Leah said that they provide many other services for example Zac is a wiz with electronic devices and is able to give assistance in this area. Leah invited members to pop in and check out all their other services. Visitors are welcome at our meetings come along and meet our members and see what Probus is all about. As we are all trying to be a little bit greener don’t forget to bring your own mug for morning tea.
