Earlier this month, EA Southee Public School along with community partner South West Slopes Credit Union, presented the first participants of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library with their books.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is “a free book gifting program devoted to inspiring a love of reading in the hearts of children everywhere”.
EA Southee Public School partnered with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to become a local champion in developing a love of literacy for children between the ages of 0 to 5 years, prior to them commencing school.
To enable such programs to be successful, it requires partnerships with local, community-minded businesses such as the SWSCU.
The credit union company has generously provided sponsorship to fund up to five children to receive their free monthly books.
Stage 3 Educator Luke Dabin said the school is really appreciative of the partnership.
“We are so grateful to have SWSCU partnering with us to enable local children to access quality free literature such as Stella, with her new book Koala Lou by Mem Fox,” Mr Dabin said.
To further aid this program the EA Southee P & C has kindly donated a further $500 toward this great initiative.
