Emergency services were called to a house on Byrne Street in Cootamundra about 8:00 am on Monday following reports of a fire that has since safely been extinguished and under control by Fire and Rescue Cootamundra.
Captain Les Carr of Cootamundra Fire and Rescue spoke to the Times about the status of the fire.
“House was fully involved with fire. The roof had started to collapse. Our priority was to make sure residents were out which they were,” he said.
“We worked our guts out to get it extinguished. Everybody was safe which was good.”
Investigation is ongoing into what started the house fire.
“Make certain you have a working smoke alarm that is checked regularly.
“I want to thank all the services, Police, Ambulance, Rural Fire Service and Essential Energy for their help.”
