Mrs Hilary Connors President of the Muttama Hall Management Committee with the Honourable Member for Riverina Michael McCormack.
Muttama Hall held their dedication of their roll of honour boards ceremony on Remembrance Day last Thursday, with an intimate ceremony joined by some distinguished guests. The honour boards gratefully recognise the men and women from Muttama who have served their country in battle.
The ceremony on Remembrance Day signified the importance of the efforts and sacrifices made for freedom of the country by the local servicemen and servicewomen listed on the boards. Members from the Gundagai sub-branch of the Returned Services League’s were in attendance, as well as Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack and Cootamundra-Gundagai Mayor Abb McAlister alongside a crowd of 70 attendees.
The local residents are proud that they can now hold their own ceremonies. McAlister spoke with The Times regarding the ceremony and recent upgrades to Muttama Hall. “The boards have only been put up recently and today was a dedication to them,” Mayor McAlister said. “For a small community, there are 46 that served in the Second World War, which is quite extraordinary. “To have the ceremony to the dedication of the boards on Remembrance Day is just fantastic.
