The Soroptimist International club in Cootamundra has enjoyed a boom in membership with six new members joining in the past month. The women were presented with their membership badges and certificates at a meeting in Cootamundra on Tuesday 9 November.
Spanning a range of careers including IT, human resources and business administration, the combined skills of the new members will be a great asset to the club. They are looking forward to getting started with fundraising activities and projects to help women and girls in the local community.
The first activity in their post-COVID programme is a Gala Dinner with the National Mental Health Commissioner, Lucinda Brodgen, as the special guest speaker. The dinner will be held on Friday 3 December at the Cootamundra Country Club, and tickets will be on sale soon.
The club also presented certificates to two local recipients of the 2021 Rural Women’s Day Recognition Awards. Gemma Pratt was recognised for her service to people in Cootamundra who live with disabilities, and Tegan Sheedy Wineman received her award for commitment to the Cootamundra community through music therapy.
2022 is shaping up to be a bigger and better year for the club, and women and girls in the district will benefit. Anyone interested in joining the club, please email sicootamundra@siswp.org.
