On Friday 8th May, Midwives and Nurses at the Cootamundra Hospital had a combined celebration of International Day of the Midwife and International Nurse’s day. International Day of the Midwife is May 5 and International Nurses Day is May 12. They marked the occasion taking a break for morning tea and enjoyed a lovely decorated cake from The Outback Bakery. On Friday the nurses also wore blue ribbons for Do It For Dolly Day, which is a day to raise awareness and educate communities and empower them to stamp out bullying.
Cootamundra Hospital’s Facility Manager, Jocelyn Piper said, “We have got a very hardworking team of Midwives and Nurses here at the hospital. They have all been working under difficult circumstances at the moment, not only at work but with restrictions going on at home as well. They have all done a wonderful job and pulled together and got on with their work lives, which has been really good.” Jocelyn also wanted to say a big thank you to the community, “Who have been sending in donations to the nursing staff at this time. Its been fantastic the support we have had from the community. Thank you.”
