Six Local Government Areas including Cootamundra-Gundagai, Hilltops, Narrandera, Weddin, Bland and Cowra have all registered the 70 percent milestone for the first dose of the vaccine.
The positive news continues for the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council and Hilltops Council with double dose vaccination rates sitting just below 50 percent.
More than 42 percent of New South Wales are now fully vaccinated, with the state projected to reach 80 percent first doses this week.
It is estimated that New South Wales will reach the 70 percent double dose milestone in mid-October, allowing an easing of restrictions.
The NSW Government’s roadmap to come out of the other side of statewide lockdown was revealed last week.
Restrictions and stay-at-home orders for adults who have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be lifted on the Monday after NSW passes the 70 percent target.
Further restrictions will ease for the fully vaccinated at the 80 percent milestone.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian spoke on the impor-tance of getting fully vaccinated.
“I cannot stress enough how important it is for people to get vaccinated – if you have not had both doses of the vaccine by the time we hit the 70 percent milestone, you will not be able to take advantage of these freedoms,” Ms Berejiklian said.
Under the Reopening NSW roadmap only fully vaccinated people and those with medical exemptions will have access to the specific freedoms.
