Cootamundra will receive a Pump Track worth approximately $165,000 after CGRC voted to construct the facility in Coota.
It was proposed to install the pump track at Fisher Park adjacent to the existing skate park. The track will consist of an asphalt surface with berms and mounds in a modified figure eight configuration.
The site is surrounded by a mix of commercial, residential and recreation land uses with good vehicular and pedestrian access with kerb and gutter to all sides as well as bitumen sealed road frontage. It is situated one block to the west of the Cootamundra commercial area.
The proposal is contained within the existing open space/sporting precinct of Cootamundra.
According to Council the development will not impact negatively in terms of such things as recreational opportunities, or the amount, location, design, use and management of public spaces. Rather it is likely that the proposal will result in a positive impact by providing additional recreational opportunities and use of the public domain.
According to Council It is not considered that the development will have a negative social impact in terms of the health and safety of the community, social cohesion, community structure, character, values or beliefs, social equity, socio-economic groups or the disadvantaged, and social displacement. Rather there is likely to be some positive benefits in permitting additional recreational opportunities to the community.
A pump track was constructed at Stockinbingal in 2019 at a cost of $75,000.
The ‘Stock’ track was the brain child of local youngster Adam Mayor who wrote to Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council asking Council to consider building a skate park complex in the village.
Now the children of Coota will also be able to exercise on their own pump track in the near furture.
