Adina Care Cootamundra’s enrolled nurse Norma Buttriss of over 30 years is amongst one of approximately 50 nursing staff recognised this week on International Nurses Day.
There were around 20 staff present to celebrate this week and surrounded the bunch included recently recruited registered nurse Shraddha from Sydney.
Chief Executive Officer Jennifer Apps said nurses play a big part in towns like Cootamundra.
“The nursing staff are all committed and they often have to leave their own families on special days to come and care for the residents,’ CEO Apps said.
“Nursing is a 24 hours, seven days a week profession and we are lucky in Cootamundra that we have these staff that can look after our loved ones in a warm and safe environment.”
On International Nurses Day on Wednesday, Adina Care Cootamundra residents had Thank You signs prepared and put up around the building for nursing staff to be welcomed in.
An afternoon tea was put on by Adina Care Cootamundra to thank the staff for their daily service to the community, for the 58 residents currently at the facility.
The cake was made by Outback Bakery.
Then on Thursday, 51 residents and a few duty staff received their first round of the Pfizer vaccination.
A team of nurse immunisers arrived from Aspen to deliver the Covid vaccine.
Residents were said to be comfortable about having the injections and many noted that “it did not hurt”.
The Aspen team will be returning in approximately three weeks to deliver the second round of doses.
And in other news, Adina Care Cootamundra’s ‘Food Flavours Fair’ fundraiser at the end of March raised more than $5,000 which has since gone towards the purchase of the facility’s second patient-lifter.
The lifter has now arrived and is in use.
