Shop Coota-Gundy – A New Way to Support Local Businesses

The Cootamundra Development Corporation have introduced a great way to help local businesses in the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council LGA.

CDC Office Manager Leah Sutherland said “We decided to make the page to help businesses throughout the lockdown.” “It’s a campaign to help businesses, especially the ones who are closed to get some money.”

“We are also trying to help those businesses that have diminished earnings due to the lockdown since no one is allowed to go and browse in those businesses.”

Leah said she was very surprised by both the amount of businesses participating in the group and the community support.

Last Monday after being in operation for only 24 hours ’Shop Coota-Gundy’ saw 37 draws take place with $5,605 going to back into our local economy.

“We launched the page on Sunday and within half a day we had 500 members by Monday afternoon we had 1200 members.”

As of Wednesday the group had 2,500 members and continues to grow.

‘Shop Coota-Gundy’ is opened to all established businesses within Cootamundra and Gundagai and is not opened to the home hobbyists.

The businesses are making money by selecting a product to raffle off, they will then determine how many tickets are on offer and the price of the tickets which will equal the retail price of the product.

If you would like to purchase tickets in the raffle of the product all you need to do is comment on the post how many you would like.

The seller will then reply to your comment with a consecutive ticket number, you will then be able to pay for your ticket with the bank details outlined on the original post.

When all tickets have been purchased the seller will put ’sold out’ at the top of the post and no more tickets will be issued.

Once all tickets have been purchased, the seller will then send a list of entrants to the CDC who will then draw the raffle at 4pm everyday via a livestream on the group page.

Leah and the CDC would like to thank both the community and the businesses for helping the initiative come alive in the area and supporting each other through these difficult times.

“Its great to see the community come together and sup-port the businesses.

These businesses are the ones who support our sporting clubs and community events so it’s great to be able to give back to them.”

If you wish to join the page just search ‘Shop Coota-Gundy’ on Facebook and click the join icon.

Businesses wishing to participate are asked to contact an admin of the group to get approval to advertise their products.
