The Cootamundra Strikers first grade ladies had a physical 2-1 victory over the Young Lions last Sunday in a Football Wagga Wagga elimination final.
The Strikers continued their winning streak against the Lions, winning all four of their matchups this season.
Leading the Strikers to this victory was the excellent attacking play and goals from Kirrilee Cameron and Taylor Palmer.
After their win the Strikers ladies move through to an elimination semi final against Hanwood park.
Hanwood lost 5-3 in their major semi against the Junee Jaguars, meaning the Jaguars are now in the grand final and Hanwood face elimination.
Hanwood and the Striker have met three times this season, with Hanwood taking the victory in both.
Their first matchup was in round one when Hanwood ran away with a 6-2 win over the strikers.
The second meeting was a repeat of the first, in round eight the Hanwood ladies ran away with another victory.
Unfortunately once the Strikers girls started to hit their form at the end of the season the matchup between Hanwood and the Strikers was washed out.
Hanwood were the undisputed favourites to win the trophy after they won the minor premiership with 16 wins and one loss, but after their loss to the Jaguars in the semi-final, Hanwood now seem vulnerable.
Hanwood do boast the best attack and defence in the competition with an average of 5.94 goals scored per game while only allowing an average of 1.06 goals per game.
For the Strikers to stop this they will need to control the attacking threats of Hanwood, which they have done against every other team as they only allow an average of 1.7 goals to be scored per game.
This game has all the components necessary for a great game and the Strikers will be hungry to upset the minor premiers.
The game between the Cootamundra strikers and Hanwood park first grade ladies will be played at 11am on Sunday at Hanwood.
