Strikers Women Star in Round Seven

The Cootamundra Strikers women’s teams have had a great weekend of football last Sunday, with the first grade and reserve grade teams taking home two wins over the South Wagga Warriors.

Both women’s games were at the Wagga Showgrounds in round seven.

The first grade women’s side recorded a convincing 5-1 win over the Warriors, in one of their best performances of the season to date.

Kirrilee Cameron was impressive for the visitors scoring a brace, while Jorja Holder, Ash Holder and Louise Raleigh registering a goal each.

Extraordinary, with 10 girls unavailable across the two teams, most of the women played two games on the day, in an incredible physical effort.

The reserve grade women beat the Warriors 3-1, with Louise Raleigh, Lily Murphy, and Erin Boxsell each registering on the scorer’s sheet.

It wasn’t the same great results for the men, with both grades recording losses at O’Connor Park on Sunday.

The first grade men went down 4-2 to Tolland at home, but Nick Ashe and Jack Murphy were good enough to score for the Strikers.

The reserve grade men received the same two goal loss, however, didn’t score, going down 2-0 to Tolland.

The Strikers across all grades overall had a good weekend, with goals in large supply.
