According to Cootamundra Fire and Rescue Captain Les Carr, at least three fire sheds on Centenary Avenue have been destroyed in a shed fire incident this afternoon.
At least 30 firefighters from Cootamundra, Harden, Young, Temora and Wagga Wagga were on deck working to extinguish the black smoke that was quickly blanketing the area.
Joining forces were local police, ambulance and rural fire services.
Helicopters and sirens were reported to be heard and there were a number of trucks rushing in to the site.
Paramedics were also present to check those affected by the smoke.
Emergency services responded in the late morning today after a resident reported that a fire had broken out behind Parker Street.
Respective rescue groups will be working hard on site until late this evening.
