207 nominations came in to the Cootamundra Development Corporation for this year’s business awards.
Manager Leah Sutherland said, “It boils down to 113 nominees. Some people get nominated a couple of times.”
The online voting commenced on Friday and at the time of the interview with the Times, the CDC had received 432 votes on behalf of businesses and employees.
Leah said, “It’s fantastic, the community participation has been fantastic.”
Each nominee receives a certificate to recognise their nomination. Leah took the certificates around on Friday and congratulated those she met up with.
She said, “The smiles were amazing, it’s great for people to be recognised to know they are doing a good job and doing the right thing. It’s a good time.”
8 categories make cup the awards including, Individual Dedication to Customer Service, Giraffe Award for Customer Service, Excellence in Business, Apprentice/Trainee of the Year, Contribution to the Community, Employee of the Year, Employer of the Year and Best New Business,
It is the first year that voting has been opened up to the public.
Leah said, “It has been a panel of judges in the past. It is the first time the public has been invited to be involved in the whole process.”
