Wattle Time Fair Set to Bloom

Cootamundra’s annual Wattle Time Fair is rolling around again for another year next Saturday, 17 September, and is set to be a fantastic event for the whole town to enjoy.

The event is run by Business Cootamundra, formerly CDC, which supports local businesses, organisations and community groups in the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council area.

The typical country Wattle Time Fair will take place between 11am and 5pm on Parker Street on Saturday week, with Business Cootamundra Manager Leah Sutherland looking forward to a jam-packed event.

“We have been fortunate enough to engage Darlinghurst – 2022 Australian Country Music Award (Golden Guitars) Tamworth New Talent of the Year to perform on the day, plus local talent and dancing school displays,” Leah said.

“We have McCabe Family Circus, kids games and competitions, rock climbing wall, inflatable games and rides, a Cootamundra Community Group Expo, The Coota Picnic Show and Shine Car Show (with up to 100 cars), market stall and food trucks.”

Darlinghurst were number one on the Debut Australian Country Album Chart 2021 and Debut Artist Country Album Chart 2021. The Cootamundra Youth Council will also be hosting a Wattle Time Fair Pie Throw at local councillors and personalities including Mayor Charlie Sheahan, Cr Gil Kelly, Cr Penny Nicholson, Cr Trevor Glover (former school principal), Cr Logan Collins, and Councils acting General Manager Glen McAtear. Members of the public will be able to throw apple and whipped cream ‘pies’ ($5) or wet sponges ($2) at each other or members of the youth council throughout the fair.

All proceeds will be donated to the Cootamundra Red Cross Foodbank. The organiser of the event, Leah, is excited to get the Wattle Time Fair back up and running in 2022 after a series of missed years due to Covid. “We haven’t had the Wattle Time Fair for two years. It’ll be good to get back and get people out and about again. So, hopefully, the rain holds off.”

The timetable of the Wattle Time Fair will be released next week.
